Ten new voters registered in time for February's primary election with help from Next Step staff and volunteer tutors! We are happy to report that renovation plans for Next Step's Curtis Street building havd been submitted to the Oakland City Planning Department. When approved, these plans will result in interior renovations that will provide a large "community" space as well as seismic retrofits and roof modifications to improve drainage. Program Assistant Peggy Presley and a group of Next Step Learning Center program participants joined hundreds of Oakland residents at Oakland City Center today. Keynote speaker was Joseph E. Marshall Jr., co-founder and Executive Director of the Omega Boys Club/Street Soldiers.
