Transforming Lives Through Literacy

Next Step Learning Center is an adult literacy program serving the residents of Oakland, and especially West and Downtown Oakland.

Founded in 1994 by the Sisters of the Holy Names, Next Step addresses with energy and innovation the critical problem of illiteracy.

Next Step is a California 501c(3) nonprofit organization funded by gifts and grants and enhanced by the volunteer services of over 50 tutors from Oakland and the East Bay.
