Become a Partner in Our Mission of Educational Pathways Out of Poverty for Oakland families
· Make a tax-deductible donation right now through our secure on-line donation service, or send a check to Next Step Learning Center.
· Designate Next Step Learning Center to receive your United Way or Your Cause contribution at work.
· Recommend Next Step to people and organizations who like to contribute to programs that make a difference.
· Invite us to come and speak about Next Step to groups and organizations you belong to.
· Hold a small fundraising party with your friends and family (we provide all the materials and assist).
Become A Volunteer Tutor
Make a difference in someone’s life by tutoring one-on-one with a motivated student
Volunteers are partnered with a person 17 years or older to work one-on-one in the areas of reading, writing, math, science or social studies depending on the volunteer’s areas of interest and expertise. Work with students in-person at our West Oakland site or online via Zoom.

The Rewards of Tutoring
You can make a profound difference in someone’s life and to open up the possibility of a better future for that person and their children. It can be tremendously rewarding to see someone grow in skills and self-confidence.
Volunteers normally contribute two to three hours per week, meeting with a student once or twice a week. Most tutoring happens Monday- Friday between the hours at 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, with additional online tutoring in the evenings and on the weekends.
Materials will be provided for you and the participant you will be tutoring. The person’s reading or math level will have already been assessed and a general program will have been planned for you.
